Grades 1 – 5 Children’s Ministry
Our children’s ministry programming provides a place to cultivate the faith formation of children from first through fifth grade. Our catechists provide a warm, nurturing environment for sharing the ideals of our Catholic faith. Peace, joy, and unity naturally blossom through faith-filled living. Recognizing the family as the key formative structure, we support each parent in their faith journey as a family. Our first through fifth grade students meet in the parish hall Monday afternoons from 3:15 – 4:30 p.m., September through May.
Program highlights include:
Blessing of the Animals
Sandwich making to feed the poor delivered to local soup kitchens.
A full parish family event celebrating the true spirit of Christmas. All children in grades 1-5 have a part in the play!
During Advent and Lent.
May Crowning
An annual procession and coronation of the statue of Mary with flowers in our parish plaza, accompanied with prayer and song.
This celebration with children takes place on Sundays during our 10 a.m. Mass. Voluntary dismissal of first through fifth grade students takes place after the opening prayers for “age-appropriate” readings and commentary on the Sunday Scriptures (the same readings in simplified language). The celebrant dismisses the catechist and children from this part of the Mass. In procession, carrying the Children’s Lectionary, the children proceed to the parish hall, returning to the congregation at the offertory for participation in the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
We end each session with a large group reflection and prayer!
