Msgr. Douglas Cook has family roots in Nebraska, but was raised in Anaheim, California. He attended the local parish grade school, Saint Anthony Claret, and Mater Dei, graduating in the class of ‘85. He immediately entered seminary formation and attended Saint John’s Seminary College in Camarillo, with graduate school at Louvain, Belgium and the Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Orange in 1994.
Msgr. Cook holds a degree in Canon Law (JCL), and has been involved with that ministry for many years, including an assignment as Judicial Vicar For the Diocese of Orange from 2001 to 2017.
His parish ministry has included Saint Joachim’s in Costa Mesa, Blessed Sacrament in Westminster, the Polish Center in Yorba Linda, and Holy Family Cathedral in Orange. He was assigned to serve as pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in 2017.
He was honored to be named a Monsignor in 2009, and the Holy Father appointed him as a Missionary of Mercy as part of the Jubilee Year Mercy celebrations in 2016.
