Marriage Preparation
Marriage preparation includes two major components: The first is meeting with a priest to ensure that each individual is free to marry, verify sacramental certificates, and discuss any canonical impediments to the marriage. And secondly, is a Marriage Preparation workshop. (For more information about OLMC’s Marriage Preparation workshop please see below.)
For Registered OLMC/SJV Parishioners:
- Contact the parish office to file a wedding request and schedule an appointment with an available priest.
2. Take a marriage preparation workshop. The priest will guide you to the workshop that will best serve you and your fiancé.
3. Discuss a wedding date with your priest.
4. The priest will then confirm, with the parish administration, if that the date and time is available on the church calendar.
Registered at another Parish:
- Contact the local parish where you attend Mass and are registered to schedule an appointment with a priest.
2. Discuss your wedding plans with the priest and your intentions to get married outside your parish. This includes if he is willing to prepare you for the marriage and if he will be the celebrant for the ceremony.
3. Obtain a pastor’s letter from the priest saying that you and your fiancé are under his care for the necessary marriage preparation. This letter can be sent via email or postal service to OLMC.
4. Once the letter has been received, then available dates can be discussed.
Marriage Preparation Workshop “A Marriage in the Lord.”
Our Lady of Mount Carmel is pleased to provide A Marriage in the Lord workshop for couples preparing for the sacrament of marriage.
Duration: Four Wednesdays in the months of January, March, May, July and September
Time: 7:00 – 9:30 pm
Location: Our Lady of Mount Carmel; upstairs classrooms of O’Donnell Hall
